Unit 2: Using Nicknames and Variations
To make your accounts look diverse while still representing you, you must use name variations and one nickname.
Why Nicknames?
- American-sounding nicknames (e.g., James, John, Robert, Mary, Jennifer) make profiles feel more local to U.S. audiences.
- Nicknames help you manage multiple personas without raising suspicion.
Guidelines
- The last name field is always for your family name, regional identity, or surname.
- The first name field includes everything before the surname.
Examples:
- Kamran Ali Khan → First: Kamran Ali | Last: Khan
- Syed Kamran Ali Khan → First: Syed Kamran Ali | Last: Khan
- Syed Kamran Ali Khan Ghouri → First: Syed Kamran Ali Khan | Last: Ghouri
- Nickname 1→ First: Adam | Last: G. (the letter g is the initial letter of the last name “Ghouri”
- Nickname 2→ First: John | Last: K. (the letter k is the initial letter of the last name “Khan”
👉 Always ensure one account per channel (Google, Facebook/Instagram, LinkedIn) uses your nickname.
